Seven Days in June Review

“You’re my home. And I want you forever.” – Shane Hall

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams is a deeply emotional love story about Genevieve (Eva) Mercy and Shane Hall, two individuals whose lives have been intertwined since their adolescence. Eva, a divorcee’ with a 12-year-old daughter, is an erotica author who, despite life’s challenges, has never forgotten her first love, Shane, and the profound impact he has left on her heart.

Hall, a renowned author known for his book Eight, has also held onto memories of Eva since she entered his life all those years ago. Eva and Shane, unbeknownst to each other, have been writing about their shared past in their fan books. In a twist of fate, a serendipitous encounter forces them to confront their past, embrace their present lives, and consider the possibility of reigniting a love and friendship they both deeply yearn for. This unexpected reunion adds a layer of surprise and intrigue to their story.

Initially, I was unsure about this story and had to read it in doses. The reason is that I thought this would be a steamy, love, sex-filled novel, especially after reading the synopsis. While there was romance, Eva and Shane’s story wasn’t just about their undeniable physical attraction to one another; more importantly, it was about their need for one another, their willingness to give each other the space and time to heal from past hurt, and their understanding that the love they shared for one another would forever and always stand the test of time.

Williams’s Seven Days in June showcases Black love in an authentic, relatable, and passionate way. Eva and Shane’s story involved several highs and lows, but they were willing to fight for themselves and one another, which made it special. Tia Williams’s Seven Days in June is available everywhere books are sold.
